RAIMONA NATIONAL PARK

 RAIMONA NATIONAL PARK :      The Raimona National park will be the India's first trans-border friendship park. It is Located in the Kokorajhar district of Assam and spread with 422 Sq KM. This friendship park comprises Raimona and the adjoining Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary of Bhutan, which extended Trans-Boundary conservation landscape of over than 2400 Sq Km.

 

 Historical Aspect of Raimona National Park : Earlier Raimona National park was known as Ripu -Chirang reserved forest, finally it became 7th national park of Assam. In ancient times the area was sparsely  populated tributary kingdom named- Ripuduwar with it's capital at Raimona. Ripuduwar was one of the 18 nos duwar or gate to Bhutan from Assam.

            The 422 Sq K.M Raimona forms the westernmost buffer to the Manash Tiger reserve in the the southern foothills of the Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspot, facilitating further contiguity to the Indo-Bhutan landscape. The 

Advantages of Trans-Border National Park: It will facilitate better Management of the bio-diversity rich area. It would also help check forest and wildlife crimes. Secondly it help maintaining the natural connectivity of varied wildlife species, undisturbed by political boundaries. Thirdly - Local Communities too benefit from eco tourism and cultural interaction .
